Everything You Need to Capture Work in Chat

Straight from a Teams message to a tracked Azure DevOps item.

๐Ÿ’ฌ

Start From Any Message

Open a message's More actions menu and choose "Create work item." The message content is pulled in for you, so there's no copy-and-paste between Teams and Azure DevOps.

โœจ

AI-Written Summary

Google Gemini turns the message into a structured work item title and description. Don't like it? Edit it, regenerate it, or skip AI and use the raw message text.

๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ

Full Azure DevOps Control

Choose the organization, project, work item type, area path, iteration, assignee, and parent right in the dialog, the same fields you'd fill in Azure DevOps.

๐Ÿ”—

A Link Back to the Conversation

Every work item includes a link to the source Teams message, so the context behind the task is one click away months later.

๐Ÿ”

Sign In With Microsoft 365

Use the Microsoft 365 account you already have. There's no separate product account or password to create.

โœ…

Nothing Happens Until You Click Create

You see exactly what will be created and can change any field first. No work item is written to Azure DevOps until you confirm.

From Message to Work Item in Three Steps

No new account. It uses your Microsoft 365 identity.

1

Add Message to Work Item to Teams

Install it from Microsoft AppSource. It's available in 1:1 chats, group chats, and standard channels, with nothing to install on your machine.

2

Pick a Message and Choose "Create work item"

Hover the message, open More actions, and select Create work item. A dialog opens pre-filled with the message content and an AI-generated summary.

3

Review, Choose the Destination, Create

Edit the title and description, then pick the organization, project, work item type, area, iteration, assignee, and parent. Click Create and the item appears in Azure DevOps with a link back to the message.

Create Any Work Item Type

Choose from the work item types available in your Azure DevOps project.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before you start.

๐Ÿงฐ

What do I need to get started?

An Azure DevOps organization where you have Contributor or higher permissions, a Microsoft 365 account, and internet connectivity for the Azure DevOps and AI services. You sign in with your existing Microsoft 365 account, so there's no separate sign-up.

๐Ÿ’ฌ

Which Teams chats and channels does it work in?

1:1 chats, group chats, and standard channels. In shared and private channels, Microsoft Teams does not yet deliver message actions or bot messages to apps, so Create work item and the bot commands may be unavailable there until Microsoft enables those capabilities.

๐Ÿค–

Which AI is used, and what does it see?

Summaries are generated with Google Gemini. The content of the message you selected is sent to that service to produce the work item title and description; the result is then sent to Azure DevOps when you create the item.

โœ…

Does it ever create work items on its own?

No. The dialog is a draft. You can edit the AI summary, regenerate it, or ignore it and use the raw message text. Nothing is created in Azure DevOps until you click Create.

๐Ÿ”—

Can I get back to the original conversation later?

Yes. A link to the source Teams message is added to the work item, so anyone opening it in Azure DevOps can jump back to the discussion it came from.

๐Ÿ’ณ

How much does it cost?

Your organization starts with a 7-day free trial, no credit card required. After the trial, continued use requires a paid subscription for your organization.

Free for 7 Days, Then Whenever You're Ready

The trial covers your whole organization, and no credit card is required.
